NÜWA is the second fragrance in Roja Dove’s Imperial Collection, a series inspired by empires and legends. While Diaghilev honors Serge Diaghilev, founder of the Ballets Russes, NÜWA draws inspiration from the Chinese goddess said to have created humanity and filled flowers with fragrance.
More than two years in the making, this parfum weaves leather, flowers, moss, herbs and spices into a rich, evocative composition.
It opens with lemon and bergamot, unfolding into a heart of rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, immortelle and blackcurrant bud. The base combines black pepper, clove, cumin, oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, orris, ambergris, cistus, labdanum, storax and birch.
Roja Dove spent 20 years at Guerlain before establishing his own company and opening his perfume boutique at Harrods.
Reviewers praise NÜWA as a sophisticated, beautifully blended floral fragrance, with rose at its heart and layers of soft woods, greenery and spice unfolding around it. Some perceive airy tea-like nuances and a delicate, white-chocolate sweetness, while others describe a creamy, subtly powdery warmth. The overall impression is gentle, comforting and quietly regal, though one reviewer reports a generous scent bubble. Often considered feminine but also wearable as unisex, it earns enthusiastic praise for its distinctive character, while mourning it's exclusivity due to it's high price.
