The Blazing Mr Sam by Penhaligon's was launched in 2018 as part of the portrait collection.  This Woody Spicy fragrance for men has notes of Cardamom, Cinnamon; Black Pepper, Saffron, Cumin; Tobacco, Vanilla, Cedar and Patchouli.

Fragrantica - One of my favourite scents of all time. An absolute masterpiece.  Sweet, spicey, tobacco that has a shaving foam vibe. Smells similar to halfeti, but less woody and sweeter/sexier.  Great performance.  I wear this on special occasions where I want to smell amazing all day like a wedding or graduation ceremony.

Fragrantica - Intense dark smoky a bit dusty and you let it sit for a couple hours the most beautiful woody cardamom comes out it's really really good

Fragrantica - Very complex smooth perfumery. Masterful manipulation with vanillin spices and tobacco accord. This perfume owns many qualities being creamy smooth sweet in the same time. Special occasions only, wear sharp clothes best that you have. Masterfully crafted oriental perfumery. 

Fragrantica - Dark, rich, creamy and smoky! This is outstanding! Shares almost the same DNA as Halfeti but I would say the former is more suited for day time and this is for the evenings which can also be worn during the cooler months. As others may have said, this is underrated....The longevity and sillage are both outstanding.

Fragrantica - Whilst perusing around the penhalagans Boutique I sampled around 15 different scents however this one stands out above the rest even just above the absolutely stunning Halfeti.This house may just be my new love fantastic offerings !

Fragrantica - This is absolutely beautiful. It's confident, brazen, even arrogant. It opens as a spicy sweet dessert and develops into a smokey, earthy tobacco and woods scent. However it never loses that initial sweet spicy sexiness.  Despite all these facets, it's incredibly smooth and has amazing performance.

Fragrantica - So so addictive. This is a perfect concoction of all my favourite notes and God forbid a guy were to wear this! Imagine the most refined but fun, youthful, bubblegum vanilla scent with a gorgeous cardamom note and a woody masculine dry down. It is far more American, lavish and outspoken compared to the alternative fragrances from this range that are far more austere....It retains the Penhaligons DNA with the liqueur sweetness, dark, incense base and generous pouring of spices but it's far less serious than Halfeti or Lord George.

Fragrantica - The Blazing Mr Sam is dark, dry, and warm, with just a little bit of harshness to it-very quintessential for a tobacco-heavy fragrance. On me the predominant notes are dry, leathery tobacco; spiced vanilla; and hot-smelling wood.  There's a bit of a salty note, presumably from the spices, and a bit of a sweet note from the cinnamon and vanilla. Which creates an enjoyable, light, sweet-salty vanilla note within an otherwise quite dark fragrance.  

Fragrantica - My wife got me this for Christmas and it's perfect. I use it when we go out in the evening for meals or the theatre. Long lasting amazingly addictive scent that last all night and refreshes with a little touch of water.

Fragrantica - I love this scent, it is very similar to Penhaligons Halfeti, In fact the drydown is almost identical. In saying that Halfeti is an amazing scent and has great projection and longevity. This blazing Mr. Sam is like a super strong version of halfeti and the projection and longevity are absolutely amazing. Put on a few sprays from tester this morning and still getting wafts now past midnight. Am loving it and it will join my wishlist for the future :)

Fragrantica - The Blazing Mr Sam is warm, rich, and robust, bordering on aggressive. The combination of smoke, booze, spice, and amber dominate this fragrance....This is what I wanted Jazz Club to be. All these warm rich notes come together with the smoke providing just a like bit of an edge (vs Jazzclub where I find the smoke smothers everything else). If you love Jazz Club, you might find this redundant. If you don't care for Jazz Club specifically because of the smoke level, this might be more your speed.

Fragrantica - Love it!! Spicy warm vanilla heaven!!!  I would love it even more without the tobacco, but what can you do... at least is not Oajan from Parfums de Marly which has the same scent profile and even the same sweetness, but with added 90% tobacco... thankfully Mr. Sam was more measured and added only like 20% tobacco... enough to be noticed, but without being off-putting for those of us who don't like the accord. It's a heavenly warm cozy scent that can be worn from fall and all the way to spring....the main notes are cardamom, cinnamon, saffron, something sweet that's probably honey, and obviously tobacco.

Fragrantica - At first when I smelt the opening of this fragrance, a shaving gel/sopay and a simple cardamom scent, I thought nothing much of it. Until it started developing on my skin. Suddenly I started smelling this boozy, tobacco along with cardamom and for some reason I was smelling a marine notes. The vanilla then starts to blossom and I get a really nice marriage of the vanilla, tobacco and cardamom. It smells familiar but I can't remember which fragrance it reminds me of. Overall, I've fallen in love. Full bottle worthy for me!
