Layton by Parfums de Marly is a  Amber Floral fragrance for Men launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Hamid Merati-Kashani.

Inspired by the colorful bustle of the Royal Court of Versailles, Layton, bursts forth with a fresh, dynamic masculine elegance that perfectly embodies the festive yet elegant atmosphere of the 18th century's most important and luxurious seat of power.

Layton opens with a dazzling splash of juicy, tangy bergamot and apple, tilted towards the alluringly masculine with fresh lavender, geranium and violet. Warm amber tones lend richness to the spicy heart, while a drydown of precious woods and vanilla up the opulence even further- perfect for a fragrance meant to evoke a name still synonymous with gloriously high-end excess. Life at Versailles must surely have been a dazzling mix of business, statecraft, leisure and celebration- it should come as no surprise that Layton presents itself as a perfect fragrance for any and all of those pursuits.

Top notes are Apple, Lavender, Mandarin Orange and Bergamot; middle notes are Geranium, Violet and Jasmine; base notes are Vanilla, Cardamom, Sandalwood, Pepper, Patchouli and Guaiac Wood.

Fragrantica - "Layton is such an attention grabbing fragrance to the point when the fragrance starts wearing you and not the other way around. Yes, the ladies love it (5 compliments in two days) but it is apparently so good the fragrance itself becomes the main topic of the conversation. So, apply with caution (no more than 3 sprays IMO).
Overall, Layton is a great fragrance with nice projection and lasting power (2021 batch). Sweet vanilla-apple combo with spicy cinnamon and menthol for some freshness. It may not be the most fascinating scent out there, but most of the time when you just have to "smell nice", Layton gets the job done.

Fragrantica - "Delicious. Very likeable. Warm, lightly spicy and very sweet but in a good way. Starts of fresh and turns into a lovely creamy soft and warm spicy vanilla. This is now my go to in winter when I need a pick me up. 

Fragrantica - "First off, this is extremely RICH! The scent is fantastic and will last forever and a day on clothes. As far as the smell, it’s like a apple pie with creamy vanilla and an almost minty quality to it. It really reminds me of a cozy warm fireplace.

Fragrantica - "I can say with confidence this is one of the best cold weather fragrances out there (whether that be in the winter, fall, or even spring). On my first day of wearing this through my campus I had three girls that were walking behind me catch up just to tell me they loved the smell so not only is this a compliment getter but also a conversation starter!
In terms of the scent it opens with a sophisticated smelling combination of a minty cinnamon-apple, lavender, and a tinge of an orange zest. You may find this a bit off putting for the first couple minutes but once it settles down it is really excellent. However, my favorite stage of this complex fragrance is after a couple hours where you will get this gorgeous vanilla and cardamom dry down that makes for such a cozy inviting scent—perfect for cuddling up after date night. The performance as I’m sure you all have heard is excellent; all day longevity with what, in my opinion, is a perfect projection bubble(Just a little bit longer than arms length).
