From the Brand - "Le Sel d’Issey by Issey Miyake is a woody aromatic fragrance that encapsulates the essence of a salt-sprayed voyage.
"Marine meets woody: the contrast of the elements gives birth to Le Sel d’Issey, a revitalizing fragrance born between the Ocean and the earth in a tribute to the salt of life."
Issey Miyake Le Sel d'Issey Reviews
Fragrantica - "I personally love this stuff, and consider it my signature warm weather scent. There's something about Issey Miyake that just resonates with me. Salty, marine, and aquatic, with a touch of sweetness. Has a Ganymede/Oud Minerale vibe. Lasts 12+ hours on me (insane for a freshie, and an EDT to boot). Lots of compliments (mostly from other men); I can't lie, I've received some negative comments, also (all of them from women). Not a loud projector, but has a nice scent trail. I also like that the bottle is refillable. Don't hesitate to take this one out for a test drive! 9.75/10."
Fragrantica - "I love Ganymede and I could instantly smell the similarities between these two."
Fragrantica - "This is another underrated Japanese designer fragrance with impressive performance, excellent longevity, good projection, and great versatility. Above all, it stands out as a unique scent, and available at an affordable price."
Fragrantica - "This fragrance beat my personal record from the moment I sprayed the sample on my skin to the moment that I clicked "Purchase" for a full bottle. I don't think I ever felt an EDT with such longevity and overall presence. The smell is beautiful, but it does feel like a designer/synthetic fragrance, unlike for example Heeley Sel Marine that is an absolute work of art."
Fragrantica - "Very nice and fresh opening in the dry down it reminds me of Ganymede without the metallic note."
Fragrantica - "Like the North Sea on a hot day in June. That is, the sea will still feel icy cold. But (as long as you're not in the sea) your skin will feel warm. This is an aquatic without citrus or floral and this picture in my mind is a clear one. Competition would be Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt, Bulgari Aqua, Kenzo Homme, and TF Oud Minerale. Performance is good."
Fragrantica - "Issey Miyake Le Sel d’Issey is perfect. Not perfect in a loud, sweet, obvious way, but perfect like an intense summer romance. You smell it once, you fall for it instantly and while the summer lasts, you just enjoy it.
The notes are sea salt and ginger in the opening, seaweed and vetiver in the heart, with cedarwood and oakmoss in the base. That salty opening is what makes it special. It feels fresh, mineral, slightly spicy and very alive, like warm skin after swimming in the sea, with ginger adding just enough brightness to make it addictive. The seaweed gives it that marine character, but it never becomes dirty or too aquatic, while vetiver, cedarwood and oakmoss keep it masculine, dry and elegant. For me, this is one of the best modern summer fragrances. It is fresh, but not boring. Salty, but not strange. Clean, but not generic. It smells emotional, attractive and different, like a summer love story you know will not last forever, but you still enjoy every second of it."
