Diptyque Ilio Eau de Toilette is a Unisex Fruity floral, launched in 2023. Celebrating summer, it is inspired by the Mediterranean - At the heart of the composition is an unusual fruit with fresh, juicy notes: the prickly pear. Bergamot illuminates its liveliness while jasmine brings nuance, softening its green facets with a delicate floral note. The final touch: iris rounds out the accord with a velvety softness.
It features notes of prickly pear, bergamot, jasmine and iris.
"On the coast, the rocky cliffs plunge into waves caressed by the sun. The sea stretches to the horizon to meet the sky. For diptyque's founders, the Mediterranean was the "landscape of the soul". This is where they came in the summer, to relax and repose in the heart of unspoilt nature."
Diptyque Ilio Reviews
Colognoisseur - "It begins with the refreshing green of prickly pear. This is an ingredient that doesn't get enough spotlight. Here it shows off its refreshing green scent profile. There is also a bit of citrus and floral as part of it too. This is given a boost through one of the non-indolic clean jasmines. I often compare the effect these have to forming a floral soap bubble for the other ingredients to float upon. That is true for the prickly pear. It seems to form pale green spirals on the surface of the jasmine. The last note is something different in this kind of concentration. Orris completes the trio of keynotes for Ilio. This is a light dusting of powder along with a sun-baked earthiness. The latter is the part I find so interesting. The usual carrot-like rootiness is turned to an opaque dried earth. it is as if that soap bubble has just landed on the dry ground."
Fragrantica - "Amazing new perfume by Diptyque. They are so good at capturing the essence of the Mediterranean lifestyle. It stays for quite some time on my skin and smells like pears and clean linen for me."
Fragrantica - "Smells like sun warmed skin and lotion in the most mesmerizing way."
Fragrantica - "It's such a lovely summer scent without being too obvious, the prickly pear is perfect and there's just something about this that suggests salt and sun while still smelling fresh and creamy and not overwhelming. I was also surprised at the wear time--it lasted a good 8 hours on me, and while it's not a huge projector, it stayed solid and noticeable on me throughout its wear. An absolute dream of a summer scent."
Fragrantica - "Very realistic prickly pear in the opening, really fresh and watery, so so good. Iris kicks in later and it's quite prominent so the scent doesn't stay super fresh and watery but turns more smooth and creamy after about 30min... For some reason reminds me of a fancy cucumber/mint/lime icy water, it's weird I know cause I said it's creamy...can't explain it really. It also reminds me of being on vacation by the ocean on Yucatan peninsula. Ilio isn't overwhelming but has presence. Great summer vibe, relaxing, really pleasant."
Fragrantica - "This is one of those scents that truly make me happy. As a Mexican, I used to eat cooled prickly pears every time it was very hot weather. This smells just like the first bite of the refreshing fruit. It lasted a good 6 hours on my skin and it's quite a treat for the summer."
Fragrantica - "This is surely the most realistic pear note I've smelled so far in all fine fragrances to date. It is very well done, and the hardest part which is equalizing the evaporation rate of each ingredient in order to keep the "pear" accord intact is also very well done... Just like in fig accord, pear accord is very tricky in the sense of evaporation as the fruity-pineapple-pear-green ingredients usually evaporate much faster than the violet-iris ones (important in pear note). The drydown is a nice ambrette musk with slight litchi-rose something."
Fragrantica - "Ilio is literally "summer in a bottle"... The scent was so relaxing and kinda addictive. Fresh, watery and has a little bit of sweetness in it which turns into a creamy vibe when dry-down is reached."
Fragrantica - "Ilio is liquid summer. It's a cool, sweetened breeze running through your hair as you stand in an Iris meadow. Very, very gentle and free-flowing to the point that it feels rather aquatic. It's almost salty, somehow, but it's perfectly balanced into a refreshing blend of floral citrus..."
