Highland Lilac of Rochester is all about lilac, a classic that has been around for a long time that is one of the reference lilac perfumes if you want straight up lilac and nothing else! Created by Dan Morgan in 1967. He was a former horticultural student and wanted to develop a high quality lilac scent - the smell when they are at their peak. In consultation with IFF, he was very successful at doing exactly that..
Named after the Lilac Capital of the World - Rochester, New York and its Lilac Festival at Highland Park, Highland Lilac is inspired by the natural essence of crushed lilac. Available in limited vintage each year, this is an amazingly true essence of a lilac at its peak. It is the Lilac Capital of the World's official fragrance and has been presented to eleven first ladies. In Spring, the rare double flower and other special varieties of lilac buds and blossoms are harvested and tested each year to make sure it is an exact match with the original formula. The juice must have a fresh lilac scent with a sensual dry down. Each year only a limited quantity is produced.
Highland Lilac of Rochester Reviews
Fragrantica - "A perfect realistic lilac scent, smooth edges and excellent performance in terms of both longevity and sillage. Romantic without being suggestive. Like the real flowers, the sprayed area smells better from a few inches away than right up close."
Basenotes - "I ordered a sample of Highland Lilac of Rochester before lilac season so I could actually compare the two. I was surprised with the result, Highland Lilac of Rochester really does smell like fresh blooming lilacs!"
Fragrantica - "It's like pressing your nose directly into one of those velvety fresh blooms on a crisp but comfortable twilight evenings,I can imagine in Rochester New York riding next to my favorite person in the whole world in a horse drawn carriage down a lane of lilacs arm in arm on my Birthday...a day reserved just for me...clouds of scent surrounding us and wistfully enjoying lilac colored scented macaroons...a lovely lilac cocktail."
Fragrantica - "When I was a little girl, I was in love with flowers, especially ones that had a great scent. Every spring I would wait anxiously until the lilacs bloomed, and then would gather huge bouquets of the flowers to be put in vases on the nightstand by my bed. I would lay in the dark and smell their sweet fragrance until I drifted off to sleep. (I confess. I still do this!) Highland Lilac is this scent. It is the most realistic, fresh, "spring like" lilac I have ever found. It is truly like fresh pressed flowers. No chemical overtone. No additional notes to dilute its' loveliness. Perfect sillage and longevity. This is lilac - pure and simple."
