Guerlain Black Perfecto by La Petite Robe Noire was created by Thierry Wasser in 2017, a darker version of the original La Petite Robe Noire. The inspiration was contrasting a biker leather jacket and a red carpet evening glam ensemble.
Monsieur Guerlain noted "Guerlain fans, rejoice! This smells like a resurrection of Delphine Jelk's greatly missed original version of La Petite Robe Noire from 2009, which was evidently more charismatic than the reworked 2012 version that followed: a gorgeously rich "Musquinade" blend of raspberry, amarena cherries, bitter almond, Bulgarian rose absolute, licorice, and burnt sugar, well worthy of the Guerlain name. Back then, Guerlain's now former artistic director, Sylvaine Delacourte, explained that La Petite Robe Noire was inspired by the flavour and chewy texture of a raspberry macaron, and Black Perfecto makes us remember why...."
Notes: Rose, Leather, Licorice, and Almond.
Guerlain Black Perfecto by La Petite Robe Noire is an Eau de Parfum Legere.
Reviews of Guerlain Black Perfecto by La Petite Robe Noire
Fragrantica - "I absolutely adore this scent. Its sweet, spicy, smokey and somewhat sexy. Its ideal for the cooler months and packs a punch . Its not for the faint hearted as it will get you noticed but it is a compliment getter. I heard rumors of its discontinuation so I've ordered a back up bottle. Gothic sexyness at its best."
Fragrantica - "I absolutely adore this. The first spray is a burst of cherry - almond, with a hint of leather (which I LOVE). Once it has settled into the skin, the rose really starts to shine through. The cherry, almond, and leather remain constant throughout the entirety of the fragrance. I don't really pick up on the licorice, but that's fine by me. I'm not really a fan of licorice in fragrances."
Fragrantica - "Omg what is this LPRN sorcery?? I've got a sample of the original and I love it so much. Then I saw this one and I was intrigued and scared a bit because of the leather note. ...Cherry here is toned down a bit in comparison to original but still prominent and sweet. It is blended to perfection with rose. There is a period while you can smell liquorice too but it's not heavy, it's pleasant and not off putting( i don't like it usually). Almond is not the most detectable note ( I can't distinguish it in original either. For me, I'm on the hunt for that marzipan almond perfume) Leather is not masculine at all, it's soft and seductive. This is intoxicating more elegant version of original. If you are crazy about the original you have to have this too. If original was too girly for you you might still love this but try to sample it first. This is perfection and I'm on the hunt for bigger bottle since I want to have this for the rest of my life lol."
Fragrantica - "I absolutely adore this and will not be able to say enough good things. It is dark, sweet without being heavy or cloying, and oh-so-beautiful. I definitely get the cherry, the rose and the leather but my favorite thing is I can really smell the black tea which is one of my favorite scents. It has a bit of a vintage vibe but more in an echoes of the past through a modern lens kind of way. I think this is the ultimate goth fragrance. It smells like lost innocence."
Fragrantica - "Love at first sniff. This is a very dark sweet, syrupy, smoky fragrance. Much darker than the other flankers in this line. if I didn't know better, I would swear there was a bit of tobacco in this. Possibly the leather. The cherry is very heavy in this. I detect, absolutely no powdery aspect in this fragrance, as someone suggested . It is not perfume smelling like the 80s whatsoever. Straight up, well blended cherry dominant scent . I tracked down a five year old bottle of this. absolute perfection. This is very rich has depth . You could only pull this off in a very cold climate. It would be much too cloying in the warmer climate."
From Now Smell This - "You are far more likely to notice other things, from the dark cherry cough syrup in the opening, nicely undercut with bitter almond, to the smoky tea nestled on a very clean patchouli in the base. The top notes are sweet, but not overly so unless you apply lavishly, and after that, it's far drier than I would have expected. It's also darker - you'd expect darker, of course, from the reference to the black perfecto jacket, but it's always a surprise when a brand actually delivers on the promise."
From the Non-Blonde - "Guerlain's Black Perfecto offers an added light, summer-weight leather note to the cherry. It's tasteful in a way that certain popular leather-cherry tobacco perfumes usually aren't, but it's also sheerer and far less long-lasting than I'd like. If a typical Tom Ford perfume is a commitment until the next shower do us part (or tries to), Guerlain doesn't go there. Instead they use an airy variation on their classic theme of a sweet heliotropish almond and spice (L'Heure Bleue has the more aromatic anise seed in its good versions, Black Perfecto has a slightly stickier yet nice sweet licorice)."
From Escentual - "Black Perfecto smells GOOD. It's not entirely dissimilar from the Eau de Parfum but it just feels like it has more of everything. There's smokier black tea, more of a prominent rose note, more cherry pie and more musk. It's darker, richer and more rebellious, showcasing black leather against a veritable patisserie of gourmand notes. Black Perfecto is so cool, so much fun and so very Guerlain it's hard not to sniff it and smile."
