Christened from a majestic 17th-century English steed, Carlisle is a warmly spiced, gourmand-inflected oriental fragrance launched in 2015. Opening with a burst of juicy, tart green apple spiked with fiery saffron and earthy nutmeg, Carlisle features a richer-yet heart of warm tonka bean and creamy osmanthus but also gently bitter davana and luscious rose, leading into a true patchouli note that doesn't hold back on the earthiness. As they all reach Carlisle's final stages, the glow is enough to make you feel like you, yourself, are descended from royalty.
Carlisle features top notes of green apple, saffron and nutmeg; middle notes of tonka bean, osmanthus, davana and rose; and base notes of vanilla, patchouli and opoponax resinoid. It is an eau de parfum, edp.
From Fragrantica - "This is my favorite fragrance! It's like a combo of two of the most known and loved Parfums de Marly fragances, Layton and Herod. It has the cardamon, apple, vanilla from Layton and the tobacco, cinnamon, amber from Herod with some woody undertones. This has so many facets but it's so well blended, unique and easy to like. In the opening the apple and the cardamon are more prominent but as it dries down it goes to a more patchouli, tobacco, ambrer scent.
Performance is huge, it stays on my skin for over 16+ hours and has huge projection. This is a beast and a little goes a long way. It's perfect for the cold weather and if you control your sprays it's quite versatile. It will shine on a date, it's alluring and intoxicating.
Overall, this is a scent that pleases both untrained noses or nicheheads. It's compicated and thick but it has a very likeable Pdm dna that will get positive attention. This is a modern masterpiece, a beautiful semi-gourmand/oriental scent that you have to try!
Fragrantica - My favourite PDM so far! Intoxicating! Doesn't have the stupid harshness red T does! I get the apple, the nuts, the vanilla & Patchouli too. Very very well blended! I get tobacco vibe but I don't see it mentioned in the notes, so I am assuming it's the woody vanilla patchouli blend !
I am in love !! Sorry Herod & Layton EXCLUSIF.
Fragrantica - Strange way to put it, but this is DELICIOUS! It starts of strong with a hint of baby powder and nut. However, it quickly transforms into a sweet vanilla tobacco scent that lasts strongly for hours. This is a must have for a perfumer's collection.
Fragrantica - I have more than 120 niche frags and this one in wintertime, is my favorite ! Every time I turn around, it hits me with this beautiful smell and never fails to surprise me . What a MONSTERFRAG! It reminds me Oajan !
