Maurice Maurin composed the fragrance in 1974, orchestrating it around the blackcurrant bud. It has notes that remind me of the sweetness of applewood fires, and a note like casmere or expensive wool. Very nice. Similar sort of thing to vintage Arpege, but stronger and more complex. Sillage is good. This perfume was created by Maurice Maurin, who used a more deft hand at balancing just the right amount of greens (Galbanum \u0026amp; vetiver) florals (hyacinth, Jasmine \u0026amp; Lily of the Valley) and fruits (black currant) balanced over an oak moss\/chypre base.  How genius he was to bring the heft of the oak moss to give rise and balance to the fruits and florals in this marvelous creation. Blackcurrant bud is ordinarily intensely green, with a fruity nuance, but in Amazone it is used in such a way as to enhance the ripe berry impression of the top note.
