History of perfume Sampler ~ Large ~ Fragrance Milestones - 9 Samples

 This is the larger version of the History or perfume sampler. I am also offering a smaller scaled down version if you prefer. This for the both the beginner or intermediate even the advanced perfumista who wants to get a sense of the land marks in perfume history.
The following Nine samples are 1 ml except for pure parfums which are 1/4 ml or 1/2 ml.

1780 ~ Creed Royal English Leather ~ While Creed's Zeste Mandarin Pamplemousse launched in 1760 was Creeds first fragrance, the original formula is not being made anymore & was relaunched in 1975 however, Royal English Leather launched in 1780 is creeds oldest formula still being made today & was the first Leather scent made by a perfume house. 1 ml

1882 ~ Houbigant Fougere Royale Parfum ~ This was the first true modern Perfume & was launched in 1882. Houbigant was the first to use Coumarin...a synthetic in perfume & the Fougere or fern category is named after houbigant's Fougere Royale. 1/4 sample pure parfum

1889 Guerlain Jicky EDT ~ Guerlain opened in Paris in 1828 & along with Creed, & Houbigant is one of the oldest perfume houses to date & is still going strong!  Jicky named after an English student who Aimé Guerlain fell in love with, was the first 'abstract' perfume as it wasn't reminiscent of one individual note launching Guerlain & the perfume industry as a whole into the modern age of perfumery.

1905 Coty L'Origan Parfum~ The first perfume to use Ionone, a chemical compund that results in a warm iris violet scent. It is said this was the predecessor to Guerlain's L'Heure Bleue 1/4 sample pure parfum

1906 Apres L'Ondee ~ The First Fragrance to use Anisic Aldehyde which smells of hawthorne. Apres L'Ondee is a Guerlain creation & is still made today in EDT although the Parfum has been discontinued.

1917 Coty Chypre de Coty EDT ~ The original chypre for which the category is named comprised or bergamot top note, floral heart & oakmoss base 1/2 sample

1919 Guerlain Mitsouko EDP ~ Launched in 1919 This was the first fragrance to blend fruits with chypre notes.

1925 Guerlain Shalimar EDPFirst introduced in 1925 by Jaques Guerlain, Shalimar means Temple of Love in Sanskrit.  Shalimar is an Oriental fragrance with top notes of lemon and bergamot; middle notes of jasmine and May rose; and base notes of iris, incense, opoponax, tonka bean and vanilla.  Shalimar was created by dumping huge amounts of vanillin ~ a synthetic vanilla into the Jicky formula

1944 Robert Piguet Bandit ~ One of the most used prototypes to this day. Bandit was created in 1944 by Germaine Cellier who combined quinolines which create a strong smoke & leather scent with other notes and her combo can be found in many fragrances to date.
